Pennhurst – Mayflower Graffiti – Sept 2020

Pennhurst is covered in graffiti, there’s a lot of it. The Mayflower building is no exception. Some of it is quite artistic, much of it is just vandalism.

I’m sure there were some that thought they would mark the place up and think it would summon a demon or something.

An interesting one though did catch my eye, it’s simple binary. Not the kind of thing you would normally expect to be just spray painted somewhere. It peaked my curiosity enough I wanted to decoded it.

1011 1001 1010 translates to: 11 9 10 in decimal

About the only things I can find which that may possibly reference would be a date of some sort, or a bible verse.

It seems interesting given what were doing that my first search for 11 9 10 resulted in coming across Luke 11:9 10 which reads:

“For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

Since I don’t know what in the person’s mind when they spray painted that, I can’t say that is what it is supposed to mean, but it certainly seems appropriate given what we do.
